Objective of the event
Promote the importance of integrating health into climate policy to protect populations, maximizing economic benefits, and generating public support for ambitious climate policies in Latin America and the Caribbean.
Highlight examples of good practices in the NDCs of Latin America and the Caribbean.
Description
GCHA's Healthy NDC Score (https://bit.ly/ndcsalud) assesses the extent to which national climate commitments recognise and respond to the rich linkages with health. Ensuring that health is integrated into climate policy protects populations, maximises economic benefits and builds public support for ambitious climate policies. Failure to include health in NDCs is a missed opportunity for people, the public purse and political support for their implementation.
With a cross-sectoral collaborative approach involving the participation of governments, international organisations, civil society, academia and the private sector, this event will involve countries engaged in building national resilience and incorporating health considerations into their national climate plans and research and health organisations working to promote the inclusion of health in climate commitments.
