Objective of the event

Share the experience of Mexican institutions at different levels of government on the integration of biodiversity and its importance in tackling Climate Change.

Description

A panel with officials at federal and state levels where the exchange of experiences in biodiversity integration will take place. In Mexico, efforts have been made to integrate biodiversity elements into policies and programmes for the management of productive sectors, thereby addressing both the mitigation of emissions and adaptation to the effects of climate change, an example of which are the actions for the conservation of pollinators and the reduction of agrochemicals in agriculture. For their part, state governments have developed strategies for the integration of biodiversity within the productive sectors, promoting pollinator-friendly actions and soil conservation, as well as avoiding burning in the agricultural sector, with actions in the production of sugar cane and the production of tequila and mezcal agaves. It also highlights the important intersectoral dialogue that has taken place in these states.
